. . . your possibilities are endless

Collide with the unexpected . . .

Last year, BBC Radio 4 broadcast the excellent, Networking Nation (still available), presented by Julia Hobsbawm OBE. Back to basics . . .

If only I’d been any good at maths, I might have been a scientist. But I wasn’t, and I’m not. So when the world of popular science opened up a few years ago, I devoured what was being written by a range of very patient authors who gave more than a nod to people like… Read More Back to basics . . .

I just know it . . .

Yesterday was busy. The Gas Man called to service my central heating, but decided to condemn my fire instead – please don’t tell my dog – she worships it; I packed my carry-on luggage for an impending trip abroad, and am wondering how I’m ever going to zip it up (hmm . . . where is… Read More I just know it . . .

Paying attention . . .

A leader I know told his management team that they should be spending at least 50% of their time developing people.   It was a wonderful eyebrow-raising moment. One that required more than a little reflection to take in what that really meant.   50%? That’s a huge ask.   And you’re probably one step… Read More Paying attention . . .

We each have a choice . . .

This is real victim territory. Not victim of course in the sense of someone doing something to you that you don’t deserve or which is so unspeakably cruel it effects a serious, significant impact on your wellbeing. But the victim mentality that encourages you to believe it’s always someone else’s fault, or that the change… Read More We each have a choice . . .

No one told me . . .

I went on a leadership programme recently.  As a participant.  Lucky me; I don’t usually get to sit on that side of the room.   Though if honest, and I mean this with all good intent . . . it didn’t feel much like a leadership programme . . . more an unburdening, a therapy, a chance… Read More No one told me . . .

Looking after you . . .

I like words.   I learnt some new ones the other day: data rot and link decay.   Ouch.   I’m guessing they made it into the dictionary fairly recently, or at least into a more technical dictionary than the one I’m used to.   And if you were wondering, they roughly translate as this:… Read More Looking after you . . .
