I’m a huge fan of Steve Radcliffe’s Future-Engage-Deliver (FED) approach to leadership, and a model that comes from his book Leadership Plain and Simple is one I find myself returning to time after time . . . and as with all good models, I find its power is in interpreting it to the context of the situation you’re working in, or to the person you’re working with.
My interpretation of Steve’s wonderful model makes me think that each element of it links into a different skillset or domain of learning and development:
In How to shift from Manager to Leader, Steve considers the move it requires to get out of an Operator/Manager Mode and into Leader Mode, suggesting:
“What a waste of human potential when we spend lots of time in our Operator/Manager Mode, particularly when we don’t want to be there but are not aware we are there!“
