On the same day that I read an article suggesting that trying to create an image of perfection is a sign of being a bad boss, I came across a most wonderful example of a good one.
After a moment of quiet reflection, a leader who I much admire sent a handwritten note to their colleague. It said,
“Thank you for the time we spent together today. I wanted to let you know that I’ve been reflecting on what we discussed and realised that in my response to you I went straight into the pragmatic mode that I am constantly trying to step away from. So this is to let you know that I think the work you’re doing is amazing, and I believe you will succeed because of the fantastic strength and willpower that you possess. This realisation today has been a gentle reminder to a part of me that I often ignore. Thank you for helping me to get there.”
So, good leaders. They do exist.

That’s brilliant Christine, nice to be reminded they are out there !
