Last November an online survey called The Rest Test was launched to investigate what rest means to different people, how they like to rest and whether there is a link between rest and well-being.
It was notable that when asked which words they associated with rest, just under 10% of people chose “guilty” or even “stress-inducing”.
Odd how “doing nothing” seems to make some people worry.
And that’s a shame because it creates added pressure when we want to take some time in the day for quiet reflection.
But let’s not forget … what on the outside might look to others like you’re doing nothing might actually be the best few introspective minutes you’ve spent all day.
