Self care is so important. And particularly when you’re supporting or developing others – perhaps as a leader or a coach.
I was reminded of this recently in a discussion with a colleague. She very sensibly spoke about making sure that she checks in with herself for a brief moment before entering into a conversation with someone in her team. And how to do this? For her it was a simple technique:
Pause – for breath, for calm, for quiet
It took 30 seconds.
And then she felt able to enter into that space where she could give her complete attention.
