I heard a good leader the other day tell their team:
“I can deal with your positivity or your negativity, but not with your apathy. If something’s wrong, or there’s something on your mind, you need to tell me. You need to talk to me.”
It seems rather obvious now … but nevertheless felt a good reminder about the importance of opening the feedback channels, of communicating on an adult level, about being honest about what’s important.
And worth remembering … that getting it off your chest moment isn’t just about you. Communication is a 2-way process. There is, yes, absolutely a reason why it’s been said that feedback is a gift.
