In 2010, in a speech at Princeton, Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon, reflected on his decision to start his company as the “less safe path” . . .
“I decided I had to give it a shot. I didn’t think I’d regret trying and failing. And I suspected I would always be haunted by a decision to not try at all.”
Perhaps not Amazon-esque, but I know there are things in my life I’ve been glad I’ve pushed myself to do, realising only after I’d done them how much regret I would have had if I’d not tried. Coming through a difficult, challenging experience can be so rewarding and energising.
Hindsight is wonderful, isn’t it.
