I was very tempted today to pick a daisy growing on our grass at work. I resisted of course … something going around the back of my mind about how environmentally unfriendly it is to pick wild flowers.
But I recalled doing this when I was a child – and knew no better – and was reminded of some very happy, carefree summers where picking daisies and making chain necklaces brought fun and enjoyment. Simple pleasures.
So while I’ll be resisting the urge to tamper with nature in my workplace grounds (which are truly spectacular), seeing those daisies can at the very least bring a smile to my face – and a warm, fuzzy feeling about times past. Funny how we can find opportunities for reflection in the strangest of places.
