At your best . . .

I came across a story about a Premier League footballer who had been out of action for a month with a hamstring injury. Well on his way to recovery, the footballer had apparently been champing at the bit to return … but his manager turned down his request, saying it was too early for him to be considered match fit.

What a very sensible manager.

I wondered what might happen if leaders adopted this approach at work – of allowing people to truly take time out until they were fully back to their best?
