A most wonderful colleague shared a story from his homeland – a true tale of night-time walks with friends through the desert in his native Libya.
He described what it feels like to travel through the sand … the sheer vastness … how quiet it is … and how scary too.
With no road or signposts, every so often on his journey he’d need to stop and look behind him, just to check … where have I come from? Am I heading in the right direction? Am I happy with what I’ve achieved?
When he finished, our room fell silent. We each might not have travelled through a desert, but the story he told held true for us all.
