I’ve been revisiting some of my yoga books, and came across this quote about asanas (postures):
The Yogabhashya is a commentary on the Yoga Sutras of Patañjali, a collection of 196 aphorisms written around 400 CE.
I’m reminded that there’s a message in there that’s relevant even now.
I love that message I heard Laruga say ‘soften in to the pose’ and I often have a mental mantra of ‘allow the pose to become me’… it’s kind of the opposite to the forceful effort we’re often led to believe is the way to achieve anything! One of life’s beautiful paradoxes!

Yes, I love the concept of “softening” or breathing into a pose – and metaphorically, for the rest of my life, I love this as a concept. Thanks for reading, and for commenting.

So glad I discovered your blog. 🙂 Yoga has been a hobby of mine for about a year now, and I’m even on the journey of attaining my yoga teacher training certification. On my blog, I’ve even started a yoga photo journal, which is helping me see what I need to improve, and how much progress I’ve already made. Thanks for this awesome post! I am looking forward to discovering more and more yoga-related pieces of writing. Hope the rest of your weekend is great!

Thank you so much. I too, am a qualified yoga teacher and find that what I’ve learned about yoga over many years is so relevant to everything else I do. Good luck with your training, and thanks for reading.
