Joking aside . . .

I listened to a 15 minute story as I drove home from work the other afternoon. It was about the newness of a woman’s relationship with a man who at times seemed a little aloof and mysterious. He was described as a private man who shared nothing private nor sought to ask any private questions.… Read More Joking aside . . .

Quite tempted . . .

I read that over an 8-year period, “The Only Way Is Essex has kept viewers hooked with its glossy brand of real-life drama, served in glamorous locations along with some enviable outfits.” I truly have never seen this television programme, though of course I’m aware it exists from the many trailers I’ve seen trying to… Read More Quite tempted . . .

Doing what you think is best . .

The 1950s’ Robbers Cave experiment might not have been scientifically rigorous.  But it is a well-known example of realistic conflict theory and often cited in modern research.  Led by psychologist Muzafer Sherif, it brought together a group of boys at a US summer camp to try to make them fight each other.  And what happened next is… Read More Doing what you think is best . .

Not your destiny . . .

On the eve of the Masters back in March, golfer Rory McIlroy had some wise words to share: “The notion that the Masters somehow represents McIlroy’s destiny, or a logical career step, is the next to be batted away. “No one is owed anything, due anything, it’s not my turn,” he says. “I don’t believe… Read More Not your destiny . . .

Imagine if you can . . .

“Any prisons of thought are of our own invention and can be dismantled just as they have been constructed. If the mind is flat – if we imagine our minds, lives and culture – we have the power to imagine an inspiring future and to make it real.” Nick Chater Author of The Mind Is… Read More Imagine if you can . . .
