Epicaricacy … a delight in another person’s misfortune

I was curious … what’s an antonym for this word?  The answer?

How sad that seems. Feeling deep emotional pain for another’s misfortune is very different to the lulz- or schadenfraude-like implications of epicaricacy, surely … and what a shame that a word to describe this doesn’t come easily.

So I’m making up a few of my own. How about …

  • Love, compassion, care, empathy, consideration, sensitivity, respect, understanding, concern?

Yes, I like those.
