. . . your possibilities are endless

Month: February 2019

The time is now . . .

The timing of this lovely post from a fellow blogger I have long followed could not have been better for me: I’d had a particularly difficult day, getting frustrated about balancing demands from others on my time, with my studies, for which a deadline was looming. I took courage from their words, and now know… Read More The time is now . . .

Pardon?

“It’s impossible,” said pride. “It’s risky,” said experience. “It’s pointless,” said reason. “Give it a try,” whispered the heart. – Anon

Never say never …

I heard the actor Michael Caine being interviewed. He spoke of how he’d heard some young people saying that their goal in life was to be rich and famous. He felt that wasn’t a great start – proposing that instead you’ve got to first spend time finding out what you want to do. Sir Michael… Read More Never say never …

The long and the short of it …

“PC.” “Politically correct” or “Person centered” which one seems kinder? I know which I prefer.

Know this . . .

“If thou remember’st not the slightest folly That ever love did make thee run into, Thou hast not lov’d.” (Mr William Shakespeare.  Of course.)

No matter what . . .

I couldn’t resist taking a snap of this on a recent beach walk past a hotel more than a few miles away from where I live.  I was already having a great day; this signage made me stop in my tracks and reflect on how thankful I was for it.

Trying my best …

The world is changing. My coffee cup is changing. I’m desperately trying to change with them. Once upon a time I got my coffee in a cup.  A cup we’d all recognise, for it more than likely had a fairly obvious shape and came in a certain size that was just right for coffee.  It… Read More Trying my best …

Not smart . . .

Rabbi Lord Sacks speaks of the need for face-to-face contact. He proposes that we can’t be lifted by being on a smart phone. As someone who understands the many benefits that the use of a mobile device brings, I believe that technology can most definitley help in providing information and support and comfort and a… Read More Not smart . . .

Thinking in analogue . . .

Just a thought, but … I find myself often thinking about technology.  More specifically, the response to it by people of different ages, from different generations. I am most definitely far away from being a Gen-Zeer, yet I embrace all things technological with an enthusiasm that others have commented on.  It seems a fairly obvious… Read More Thinking in analogue . . .

Connecting . . .

I heard British designer Thomas Heatherwick talking about the new, highly-lauded public space he’s created from joining together two industrial, Victorian coal sheds in King’s Cross, London, now with an atrium that has been described as one of the best in the world.  He called it “a provision for togetherness” which has a soulfulness and… Read More Connecting . . .
