
Robert Plutchik identifies 8 basic emotions (above) … Aristotle said there are 9 … Darwin proposed a much greater range based on behavioural traits … and elsewhere more popularist journals have been bold enough to suggest there are as many as 27 emotions felt by human beings.
This article by Andrea Mathews – Dealing with Difficult Emotions – helps to explain why we might find emotions at times challenging. I especially like her comment, “All emotions are just simple taste buds of life. They tell us about the flavour of our lives.”
