Sardines, Ouzo and freedom . . .

In 2018, Greek pilot Vasileios Vasileiou survived a Taliban attack on the Kabul hotel he was staying in.  40 people lost their lives.  His experience, understandably, has shaped his outlook on life: “I have always been a positive person, but nowadays I am even more so. I enjoy every single moment of life and feel… Read More Sardines, Ouzo and freedom . . .

Here today . . .

Something that is very special today might not be special tomorrow, but to hold it, to grasp it, to keep it, to make it special, to elevate it from the ordinary, that’s when you open up the Champagne. To make it sparkle. CHRISTOPH WALTZ

Rising to the occasion . . .

Adwoa Aboah began modelling while studying drama at Brunel University.  In 2017 she was the first cover star of Edward Enninful’s Vogue magazine, and also in that year named GQ Woman of the Year.  She founded the online platform Gurls Talk, a discussion forum for mental health, body image and sexuality, and in 2019, Barbie’s… Read More Rising to the occasion . . .

When you say nothing at all . . .

“It is sometimes safer to be taken for a fool and to be overlooked, than be considered wise and have your every word examined.” Madame Boussay, The Burning Chambers, Kate Mosse

Simple does . . .

In my office at work we have an instruction for our water boiler, reminding users to turn the dial anti-clockwise to release the boiling water. The note isn’t printed, or lengthy, or at all ambiguous.  It’s handwritten on a sticky yellow note that might not last too much longer stuck to the front of the… Read More Simple does . . .
